I have so much shop stuff to do but absolutely can't stand the rest of the mess that's still lingering in the studio like my boxes and piles of scrap paper so I spent a few hours yesterday and today going through them all and sorting them into 3 piles: keep, special/vintage papers (also keep) & donate (to my MIL's friend's grandkids). So happy to say it's done!!

Then I moved on to my containers of alphabet stickers & rubons. It feels good to purge even though it's not much stuff. Made a pile that was worthwhile to do a giveaway with...

Thought this post was so cute over at Freckled Nest's blog. Eddie grew up with 2 of them and loves them to death. He sometimes questions why we didn't get one of these little guys instead of a Mylo. Bath time would be so unbelievably easy!! Eddie, I really don't know why sometimes (as much as I love our little Golden Nugget).

You'll notice that some of my kits' shipping prices have gone down from approx. $11 to about $6.50. You'll also notice that when your package arrives, the stamp cost is much less than the $6.50 that you were charged for shipping. That's because I've decided to self-insure packages that can ship flat in Canada. Has anyone seen this movie? It came out back in 2007 and was on tv here the other night and I watched it while Eddie was at hockey. I couldn't stop crying. Don't think I've ever bawled my eyes that badly over a movie. Maybe it's the hormones. Maybe it was such a good play on the viewer's emotions - got myself imagining and thinking what life would be like in her shoes if it were to happen to me.

What movie have you watched lately that had you bawling your eyes out? I think this is page worthy. Try printing a photo of the movie (like the image above) that you can find on the internet and scrapbook it today.

Was so excited that these were so popular and sad that they were no longer available because they were all sold out. Happy again now cause they're back in stock:). Have been really having fun replenishing stock for my shop. Feels good to make stuff. Feels good to feel good again:).

Belly's sure getting big:). Got approximately 6 more weeks of work work left then got some vacation time and then mat leave starts shortly after mid-May. Where's the time gone???

Can't wait to share my next art journal...it's still in the works and hopefully will be available by end of the month.

BTW I had another baby brain moment. I usually work Weds - Friday at the Health Unit so I sat in 2 hours of traffic on Weds to get into work a little late only to find out that my set didn't start till Thurs (once a month I would work Thurs to Sunday)!!! Looking forward to 2 days off:)

my baby brain has caused me to lose it. I have never bought this much toilet paper in one trip to the grocery store - EVER - for just the 2 of us. Yep, there was a limit of 8 (12 double rolls) and the sale was on this brand Cascade that we use (it's environmentally friendly and it's never been this cheap). It doesn't look like much in the photo but people were looking at us when we wheeled it outta there. LOL! Does this count as nesting? LOL. And we didn't even go there with the intention of buying them (we went there to pick up enviro friendly diapers that were on sale and our baby won't be here for another 3 months!!). How's that for thinking ahead? At least we won't have to buy toilet paper for another 6 months (or more). Don't ask me how I convinced this poor man to let me buy the max allowed:P.

how do you journal?

After scrapbooking for a few months was when I think I turned to using my handwriting mostly for my journaling. When I get into the mood to scrap something, I don't bother with the computer (to find fonts that'll go perfect with my page theme - just too lazy for that). I really don't even know my page theme when I'm creating so I'd probably be searching forever for that perfect font and get nothing scrapped. That's why I love using my handwriting:) - it's perfect for any theme.

Here's some neat little items that I like to do my journaling on:

-lined papers out of a small notebook from the dollar store (love using these to give different sorts of looks). It's not acid free/archival but if you know me, you know that it doesn't bother me cause it's cheap and I love the texture/interest that I get especially when I include the "holey" edge.

-You know the insert in the packaging that the Love, Elsie acrylic stamps came with? That's what the grid paper is. Couldn't see it go in the recycling bin so into a scrapbook page it goes. Love it when companies include little things like this - makes me smile:).

-then there's prebought tags and diecuts like this one from Creative Cafe.

My fave journaling pen?

-none other than the Sakura Microperm. It can write on any type of surface and dries quick. LOVE.

Titles?

-I admit. I own my share of alpha stickers and stamps. I'm a collector. Always on the lookout for the perfect font for my titles but sometimes I just get so darned lazy to pull out any of these items that I just use my handwriting.

Love to just simply write a title on textured cardstock then cut out.

Made a mistake?

I used to write out my journaling in pencil first but then found having to retrace all my journaling very tedious and then the erasing part was even worse, often leaving my paper all crinkled from the rubbing. I just learned to go with the flow and reword things if I happened to make a mistake. I look at the journaling space that I've got as a challenge and to fit what I have in mind inside that space. It's quite fun and liberating. You should try it. And when I run out of space, I just look for another spot to add more journaling on. Take the layout above for example. I sewed the stitching at the end so it looks like the journaling was purposely broken into 2 sections.

...last weekend?

Got a funny story...Eddie told me that his coworker friend was on the phone with her husband and asked him what he thinks we were having. The funny thing is - he's always been 100% wrong on all his guesses. So his guess? That we were having a boy. Well guess what?

It's a girl!! :D

This little sweetie was very camera shy, sleepy & stubborn. She loves her feet as you can tell in the last photo. So stinkin' cute! Eddie almost had a heart attack when the technician was giggling my belly to get baby to move her limbs so we could see her face. She told us we could reschedule another appointment to get better photos. We said, no thanks - we'll save it for when we meet her in person. A few so-so ones is enough.

Hi again:). Just got over another cold. My immune system is doing funny things - Eddie had the Norwalk virus after Christmas dinner and I totally didn't get it but I can't run from these nasty colds!

My parents finally came back from being in Vietnam for 6 weeks. The last time my dad & brother went, my dad got a relative to buy a bunch of cute buttons for me. Unfortunately, she only got a small bag of everything so needless to say, I ran out pretty quick. This time, my sweet mom did the shopping and bought me a whole load of the ones that I wanted:). As soon as I got home with my huge bag full of buttons, I went right to remaking these 2 sets of cute embellies. Made me so happy to see them back in shop again!

So I waited as long as I could. Definitely WAY after my first trimester...and got my hair coloured. I was already feeling really haggered and didn't want to look the part too. Much better now :).

Sorry for the delay in posting the winner for the giveaway. Just came back from this girl's house. We made Valentine's treat bags for family and coworkers with the Daisy Ds treat bag kits. Saw them at a local dollar store for $1.25 and had to get like 9 boxes LOL for a total of 90 treat bags. It came with baggies, the topper and ribbons. It was such a good deal!

PS. I won't be making Valentine's embellies this year after all. It's just too much to push myself cause I started feeling not so good again. But will instead work at restocking old fave embellies and kits ;).

studio update and giveaway

Love looking at this neat area as soon as I make my way down the last few steps of the staircase leading down to my studio.

Studio is almost all tidied up. I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with all my scrap paper. Maybe just give it all away to my MIL's friend's grandkids to play with? And just get a fresh start in accumulating more:). Then there's the Christmas stuff...think I told you that I ordered/collected enough stuff to make 200 Christmas art journals but only ended up making 140 because of my feeling crappy. Maybe I'll put together little baggies of these items and list them for a good price just to get it out of my space. That'll be later though. Got too much restocking to do.

Bought more fabric to make more Sew Grateful kits. I thought the last batch was going to be it but there's still a few of you out there who want more. They'll be back in shop soon - thanks for being patient:).

Been sitting on the couch a lot and just taking it easy but feeling too good to sit still still so have been sewing like mad. These were done within the last week or so heehee.

Plan for next week or two:

-order remainder items for Escape Art Journal and make a few more

-put together some Valentines items (just a few)

-start working on restocking some other kits

-put together a new art journal:)

She introduced me to eating these steamed purple yams all on its own. They're actually quite yummy - sweet. They're apparently a white-ish colour raw but when steamed, they turn purple. The actual raw purple yams do not taste good at all.

My sister got me a Snuggie for Christmas. Guess who was the first one to wear it? LOL!

Taken when we were at Whistler Village. One of the reasons why I married him and am having his baby:P.

A little getaway

My friend Yolanda and her hubby invited us to spend 2 nights with them at the suite they rented up in Whistler, BC on Jan 9 & 10. We stopped at Subway before making the trek up the mountain on Saturday evening. It was the first time in my life that I ate a whole foot-long by myself LOL!

It was so pretty up there. I was mesmerized by the lights that draped each tree and its branches (as you can see in the photo). I love how I never go hungry when I'm near Yolanda. She had a ton of food waiting for us up there. I never truly appreciate her love for food until this moment in my life:). Eddie gave up his chance at snowboarding to walk around the village on Sunday with me while Yol and her hubby went skiing. We met up again in the evening for hot pot and another game of Yahtzee. Made the trek down the mountain on Sunday late morning. Think this might be our only escape before baby arrives.

Some storage solutions

Thought I'd share one of my favourite areas in my craft studio. It used to be my work table but now the computer sits on it. The little space on the right has been quite bare so I thought it would be a nice spot for my white plastic tote caddy that I picked up at the dollar store from a while back. Inside it is a glass cup, a small metal bin, and a mug. I use it to hold little knickknacks that don't fit anywhere and things that I want close to me when I'm creating stuff:)

The wall behind the computer - where ceramic thingies and a metal bin hangs. Got these from IKEA in the kitchen section. It houses my often used items like my fabric & paper scissors, xacto knife, journaling pens, and awls.

Then there's this wire basket that I also found in the kitchen organization section in IKEA a while back. They don't carry it anymore unfortunately. I stick all my label sticker and packages of fun goodies that I love looking at in here. It's getting really heavy which reminds me that I maybe should do a little purging soon:P.

I know we're all guilty of it:). The after Christmas splurge on ourselves. Mine usually includes pre & post Christmas splurges! This year was $300something worth of maternity clothes (miraculously with the approval of the husband).

my new year's resolutions

My New Year's resolutions this year include:
1. Being a little more organized (with my studio, my business expense tracking, my closet, life)
2. Stop eating chicken, beef & pork again once baby's born!
3. Finally learn to knit (again) and read patterns
4. Walk an hour at least every other day
5. Finish reading my pregnancy & baby books before baby is born
6. Join a prenatal yoga class as soon as body will allow
7. Do my kegel exercises!!!
8. Be more affectionate to my lovey husband - we so need to make time to be more huggy & kissy :P
9. Lose this baby fat after birth (before year is over) by going back to Bikram yoga
10. Scrapbook for myself a little more:)

Want to say thank you for some of your requests for custom orders but at the moment, I'm (still) working on cleaning up my studio (you know the mess I made from way back when I was doing the Christmas art journals??? LOL) and then will do a restock of some of my kits and work at putting out some new art journals, etc as time allows. I'm continuing to take it easy until baby comes and possibly for a while after that too. Will be focusing on staying well so that I can workwork at my other job to get the mat leave benefits. I appreciate all your support:).

Happy New Year!! Sorry I've been MIA for the last bit. The preChristmas season and then Christmas rush has been fun but definitely a little too much for me to handle. I didn't know being pregnant took so much work! LOL. As you can probably tell by my frequent posts (being sarcastic here) that it takes a lot of effort for me to drag my butt down to my studio/computer to make a blog post. Please forgive me!!

A colleague friend of mine who just had her second baby told me that she was taking these photos of herself in the same bikini every few weeks and thought it was so neat to get to look back on them afterwards. So I decided to start doing that too. This one was my first at 17 weeks and with my yoga gear on. Haven't been doing yoga for the last 10 weeks because it was just too difficult to coordinate my eating schedule with it (gotta be with empty stomach for 2 hours before yoga and unfortunately I eat almost every hour LOL). Ladies at work had a good laugh at me cause I told them I gained 5lbs from week 15 to 16 and must cut down on all the cheese I've been eating. One said, "5lbs times 40 weeks...hmmm".

Haven't posted our first US photo (12 weeks) of the l'il bugger we call Mr. Burns (head totally looks like Mr. Burns' head from the Simpsons). Isn't it terrible to say that about my unborn child? Can't believe we're having our detailed US already in another 3 weeks. So can't wait to see if it's a boy or girl.

Dec 16 assignment: journaling on things that I am grateful for.

Dec 17 Assignment: On the perfect gift.

Dec 18 assignment: Journaling on what's for dinner. I punched the holes with my bind-it-all and added the tage into the book.

Dec 19 assignment: letters to Santa. I noticed that Eddie never wrote his when I was reading through them. Even Mylo wrote one LOL!

The letters were tucked inside the book envelope.

Dec 20 assignment: journaling about something unexpected.

Dec 21 assignment: A glimpse into our living space on that particular day. The entry was made on a heavy piece of acetate.

I journaled on a piece of white cardstock the size of the photo and then mounted it on the acetate behind the photo.

Just really couldn't bring myself to scrap anything lately but have been continuing to journal in my iphone notes. The studio is only a partial mess now. I finally got around to cleaning some of it up. Hope you're all doing well.

This project has been around for a while but for those of you who haven't heard of it - I found the recipe here.

It was fun to get to hang out with this girl for a few hours on Tuesday. And get to make a few of these cute "soups" for our coworkers.

Wish we started way earlier so we could get more done before my "evening" sickness came on. heehee.
