Ready, Set, Go | Inspiration

Good morning everyone!

Emmanuelle here today for some insipiration.
Here is a layout I made with some pictures taken one and a half year ago. We are still waiting for a proper spring here in Belgium (that is why my pics are a little bit dark...it's been raining the whole week... sorry about that), and I just need some sun.
That's why I decided to use pictures from a sunny day in Malta. And those pics from holidays spent abroad where perfect to start using the enw Escape colletion. I love the colors of this collection. And once again it's so versatile that you can use it for any theme.

I am just in love with this light blue and grey association, with a touch of orange, aren't you?

Vacation Pics? Time to Escape! | Inspiration

The new Escape bundle is absolutely awesome... and to have it in my hands the week before our big trip to Belize?  Even more awesome!  I knew the color scheme was going to be perfect:  aqua, orange, and grey.  That's the ocean, my orange-loving son (he had orange everything already packed!), and the sand, wood, and fish we were going to be surrounded by.  *love*

Do you ever travel and think about how you are going to scrap it or what kinds of layouts you might do when you get back?  I do... and this trip was no exception.  I knew my family would be taking tons of pictures - and I was starting to get a little overwhelmed with figuring out how I'd tell the story of our time together on a tiny Caribbean island.  Then it hit me... I had the perfect embellishments.  Why not use them my favorite way?

I haven't been doing Project Life very long (I started at the beginning of this year), but I've been keeping up with it and absolutely loving how fast and free and personal it feels.  So I decided to NOT make any traditional layouts but to treat the vacation Project Life style... with a twist.  I knew I wasn't going to be able to stick to one (or two or three) photos a day, so I decided to go with a double page layout per day of vacation.  Plenty of room for pictures, stories, and quotes of the day.  *fist pump*

So here's the first couple of days, along with a scrappy tip!
I like to make my vacation pages matchy-matchy to each other whether they are traditional layouts or not.  To do that, I like to start with a "typical" photo and match embellishments and Evalicious products to it.  Then I store it all together in a pretty bowl in case I get interrupted with other projects in the meantime, which pretty much always happens!
Day 1:  Saturday.  Getting there is part of the adventure, right?  We love to take pictures out windows as we travel as well as those random "waiting" shots.  And I love to swap pictures with my family - I didn't take any of these myself, although a few of them were on my camera.  We're sort of an "any camera available when a moment happens" group!
Left side.
Right side.
Detail shot... and how perfect are these Evalicious tags???
Day 2:  Sunday.  Nothing like jumping feet first into a vacation... and here are the pictures to prove it, along with a few quotes we didn't want to forget.  *big smiles*
Left side.
Right side.
Detail shot... and once again, I layered on those Evalicious tags and badges for fabulous dimension and a little extra story-telling power.
Evalicious goodies used on this layout:
- Escape bundle
- Days of the Week stamp set

Whether you're documenting a trip of a lifetime or just a jaunt across town, I think these Escape goodies would look great on your Project Life pages.  Well, actually, I think all the Evalicious goodies look great on any kind of page!  So, use yours.  And share what you've made!  We'd love to see them in our Flickr pool and be inspired by *your* creativity.

Fun with Stamps | Tutorial

Hi everyone, it's Vee here to share a quick fun stamping tutorial with you today. I love stamping especially with shopevalicious  rubber stamps!  Today I am going to show you how to take color inspirations and combinations from a flyer and incorporate it into a project and share my favorite technique, heat embossing.  I love the colors in this j.crew mailer I received last year.  The tones in the advertisement are really similar to a lot of shopevalicious goodies. :)

I was inspired by the colors, tones and patterns in the above ad, while making  project life and layout journaling cards for upcoming projects. The snipsnip labels are perfect to use for inspiration such as the above because they are the perfect size and pattern to add to any project for extra pizazz.  I decided to add additional dimension by embossing my stamped images and used a few other techniques to add some additional flair!

supplies needed: scissors // embossing powder(s) // heating tool // rubber stamps // paper tags // ink pads // acrylic block(s) // colored pencils // 3x4 journaling cards

I used a variety of stamp sizes and designs to versify each card since they are all similar in colors but the graphics provided by the stamps make each card unique.  This is what I love about stamping, each stamp will always be used differently dependent on the person.

If you are new to stamping, try using a line acrylic block first to make sure your stamping is accurate.  I also love to use this type on word stamps especially.  I have a variety of different size blocks for my rubber stamps but these two are my favorite to use.

On this card I added texture to the  insta-love stamp by heat embossing it.  I love heat embossed stamped images because it adds shine and raises the image up from the paper to reveal a shiny and textured image.  To emboss follow these steps:
  1. Mount your rubber stamp to your acrylic block.  Stamp onto a watermark ink pad (make sure not to add too much ink because it will cause stamp to slide when stamping).
  2. Stamp onto card using firm, even pressure.  The stamped image will be clear.
  3. Sprinkle embossing powder over the stamp design, I always apply more because I want to make sure the image is fully covered and opaque.  Tap extra powder back into container and brush away excess powder with a paint sponge or brush if you have one.
  4. Hold a heating gun about two inches from your card, any closer and the paper will burn. I like to pass the heat over the image back and forth (wave) so the image doesn't get overly hot.
  5. Once you see the image starting to raise up and become shiny stop applying heat.

On a journaling card from the escape large tags set,  I added color to the design with a colored pencil in a vibrant pink accent color.  I love using colored pencils because they provided a light wash of color without being overbearing to a design color palette.  This is also the perfect way to make "white space" disappear if you are not a fan.  I used a chalk ink on the i eat stamp because it created a softer image.

I used a StazOn ink pad on the card to the right because I love that this ink is solvent based and permanent as soon as you raise your stamp off of  the card.  It provides crisp, vibrant images every time!  The new thought of the day stamp is a perfect customizable stamp to use with colored pencils as well!

Love mixing more than one color on a stamp, on the I love your more stamp, I mixed read and orange to create an ombre effect.  On the life moments card I kept it monochromatic with each element, embossing, snipsnip labels and journaling card.

Above is the complete mix of cards I created, I can't wait to add them to my projects.  Please remember to share your projects,I can't wait to see what you will make with some of these techniques and tips. Share  your projects in our Flickr gallery.  Have a wonderful week!

Starfish | Inspiration

It's Natalie here today. I couldn't wait any longer to share with you my excitement about the newest Evalicious collection!  It's called Escape and is designed firstly as a travel/holiday line, but can be used for many other occasions too.

However given I've only just returned from a tropical beach-side holiday myself, I knew it was going to be perfect for scrapping the thousand new photos I've got!

With so many photos it's not going to be possible for me to only scrap single-photo pages. Plus, using multiple images always tells the story better I think. I merged these 3 i-Phone photos into a single 4x6" collage using the app 'Picframe' and printed them out as one. That means I can use all these snaps without taking up too much space on my page. Yay!

Next, with my whole story to share I grabbed one of the Large Tags from the Escape collection and typed up my journaling. They're big enough to write quite a bit without being too obtrusive on your page, and it created a nice balance against my photos. I layered up a few other tags in both my clusters too. Foam tape is definitely your friend with this technique ;-)

Lastly, it's all about the stamped details for me. I like to include the date on my pages so the 'photographed' stamp from the Hello Photo set created a lovely space for it, and the Cloud Outline was a fun decoration in the opposite corner.

Have you got holiday snaps to scrap? If so, you'll definitely want to get your hands on the Escape collection. They're just perfect!

Supplies:
Escape Large Tags
Escape Miscellany Tags
Escape Snipsnip Labels
Escape V1 Badge Buttons
Hello Photo Stamp Set
Cloud Outline Stamp

Back to reality for me now.
See you next time.
xx

Insta Moment | Inspiration

Hello Evalicious fans!  Christine here today to show you a layout I made that came together quickly using mostly goodies from the new Escape collection!

20130504-IMG_0594_Evalicious

For this layout, I first spread a very thin layer of gesso onto my background cardstock using a foam brush.  The thin layer allowed it to dry very quickly.  Then I layered some upcycled silver star cellophane on top of my gesso to create even more texture and interest.
Did you know that you can use Evalicious packaging on your layouts?  I upcycled a small glassine bag that was part of some stamp packaging and used it as a pocket on the right side to hold my shipping tag.  I stamped the photo quote stamp from the Hello Photo Stamp Set with silver ink onto the tag and then slipped it into the pocket.  I also stamped onto the vellum and used a pen to outline more definition.  For this layout, I used a bunch of Evalicious stamps to layer and I just love the look! :)

20130504-IMG_0596_Evalicious

I used one of the new Escape Large Tags for journaling.

20130504-IMG_0601_Evalicious

One of the things I love to do to create layering and texture is to staple a tab onto a photo.  I also used the hello photo stamp and fussy-cut it.  Then I outlined the shape with an orange Sharpie pen, because I used light gray and the color didn’t pop out enough.  I adhered it to the layout using foam adhesive to make it more dimensional.

And of course, I couldn’t complete an Evalicious layout without using a badge button!

Process Video | Tutorial

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you enjoyed your NSD weekend and got some scrapping done. For this tutorial, I thought it would be fun to try to record my process for making this page I shared for my inspiration post a few weeks ago. I tried to film my thought process for why I chose certain elements, and why I chose to place them where I did. My main goal for this page was to use up some of my 6x6 scraps that I had lying around, and to use embellishments as a visual triangle around the photo.

This was my first attempt at a video of any sort, so I do realize there are many things that can be improved! I apologize for the slight camera shakes at some points, it's something I am definitely aware of for next time. Thank you for stopping by!
