Happy Memories | Inspiration

HI there!

Laura here sharing a new layout today.  I am really enjoying using a minimal of patterned papers and just letting these gorgeous Evalicious stamps, tags and embellishments shine!

Back in 2011 my husband, little guy and I were fortunate enough to spend Halloween at Disney World with our friends.  It was an incredible experience.  My husband dressed up as Indiana Jones and our son was his son "Mutt" Jones.  I, of course, did my own thing and dressed as one of the Disney princesses.

I added colour to these great wood veneer using water colour paints, I love how easy it is - the paint takes really well and dries super quick.

I also added some paint to this page tab to help it pop of my white background.  Aren't the badge buttons (flair) and wood veneer so cute!

Another veneer with a different colour of paint.

I love using these large tags on my layouts, they are really pretty and graphic - plus they remind me to journal the story behind the photo!  I used one of the stamps from the "this way"  collection to document the day of the week the photo was taken, super fun!

Happy Day, Happy Week | Inspiration

Hi everyone, Rona here sharing a culinary creation, erm, I mean layout with lots of Evalicious' Life's Sweet embellishments.

Predominantly on this page, I have two of the 4x6 Life's Sweet Large Tags / PL cards layered at the top. I cut out the cute cups originally on these cards ahead of time, because I think I'll use them later and I didn't want to waste them. I really liked the colour of the light aqua blue with the white border. It's a really nice layering piece.

So... this week, my kids suckered persuaded me to buy black pasta. (To me, it reminds me of the black webbing that surrounded Spiderman when he turned bad, but I digress.) The spaghetti is coloured with cuttlefish ink, which sounds kind of gross, but actually doesn't make any difference to the flavour.

I made a white wine and garlic sauce that was absolutely delicious, and decided that putting it into my scrapbook would ensure that I would never lose it. :)  (You can find the recipe here. I only added a squeeze of lemon, and mixed in some shrimp at the very end. Be sure to use proper heavy cream. The lemon will curdle the sauce if you just use milk). I plated it all up fancy-restaurant style with some grilled asparagus from the farmers' market on the side. Yum! (And I also figured out something to do with the leftover white wine. Win win.)

I think one of my favourite bits on this layout is this little wood veneer. Usually, I just put white acrylic paint on when I want it white, but sometimes that just yields more of a white-washed look. I wanted it to be REALLY white, so I covered it with Versamark ink and white embossing powder and then heat embossed it. Now it's super white, and shiny, too.

I made the mistake of trying to stamp over two different layers of paper at the same time with this "I Give This Meal (5 stars)", so I fixed my gaff by restamping it and layering it over one of the Life's Sweet Miscellany Stickers. No one will EVER know!

I used another stamp from the Good Eats Clear Stamp Set... "The Menu" has really fine details in it, so I stamped with a VersaFine black ink and embossed it with clear. I gave it extra dimension by adhering it to the layout with a double layer of foam tape.

On the left, I changed the tone of the "Let's Do This" snip-snip page tab by adding "Again!". Layered with a badge button gives this corner of the layout a splash of the aqua and lime green to even out the colours on the page.

And, it almost goes without saying, that there are lots of really lovely puffy stickers here, too. My layouts aren't complete without them, these days!

Thanks for checking out this layout... and if you try the recipe, let me know how you liked it!

Rona

What’s Cooking? | Inspiration

20150305-IMG_5393_Evalicious_CN

What’s up Evalicious fans?  Christine here with a page documenting my cooking adventures this year.  One of my goals for 2015 is to cook a new recipe every week.  My husband Todd is usually the chef of our little family.  He has mad cooking skills.  But me? Not so much!  My goal with cooking something new once a week is to force myself to learn this life skill, and to also feel a lot more comfortable in the kitchen and gain confidence in my cooking skills.

I used a woodgrain background because it reminds me of a dinner table.  Clever, eh?  ;)  I made a photo collage of my favorite dishes I’ve cooked so far this year.  If you want to see what I’ve cooked, you can go here to my Pinterest board.  It’s where I’ve been keeping track of everything I’ve cooked each week, and has my notes and takes on the recipes.

I used a wood veneer from Field Notes at the top center of my composition to add interest.  And to guide the eyes to the photos below.  I also used a circle wood veneer “Fig. 1” to embellish the middle of my photo collage.

In the middle of the page, I used a Photo Shoot Large Tag to house my journaling.

To balance it out, I diecut another 3x4 patterned paper with holes on the edge and hand-sewed some baker’s twine through the holes.  I added interest to the card with a snip snip label and a circle tag.  I also scattered some gold puffy stickers around my page.

I hope you enjoyed a look at my page documenting my new cooking skills!

Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Cupcakes | Inspiration

20150305-IMG_5383_Evalicious_CN

Hello there Evalicious fans!  Christine here today to show you a layout about some birthday cupcakes!  Back in February I surprised my husband with some cupcakes at work so he could celebrate with his work friends!  Since the subject matter was cupcakes, I thought it would be fun to play with circle shapes.  I used my Silhouette to cut out a few circles on my white cardstock background.  Then I adhered pieces of patterned papers behind them to fill them.

I used journal cards, circle tags, wood veneer, paper clips, and a doily to add texture to my page.

To add to the circle theme, I added a badge button from Field Notes Badge Buttons V1

I also added some gold puffy stickers, ledger alpha puffy stickers, and some journaling.
