Temporarily Closing Shops

It's week 38. Just got fitted for my nursing bras and picked up some nursing tank tops. Now I'm all ready for the hospital. Just in time too cause this is getting bigger and heavier and harder to carry around so I'll be taking it easy for the next month and maybe a little bit longer if baby decides to come late. Shops will be temporarily closing for the month of June and maybe a little into July.

My last shipping day will be Tuesday, June 1st.

Next shop update will be mid to late July - please stay tuned :)

Will try to update this blog at least weekly.

i just wanna make stuff :)

If you got the Vintage Random Memories art journal, you might've gotten a smaller version of one of these Elle's Studio packaging backings. I have tons of them from ordering her lovely tags for my kits and they're just so pretty that I don't like throwing them away. These are the larger ones that I decided to hang onto and am including in my next project :). What I did with them is paint Gesso on her company name inside the bracket. Gesso is like a very dense white acrylic white paint. For the red pieces on the left, there's only one coat of Gesso so far while the non-red pieces have 2 coats. You can see that it's covered almost all of the Elle's logo. I'm just leaving it at 2 coats. After you add handwriting on it, it'll barely be noticeable.

I did up some new sample embellishments for my July release and got to pulling out the stash that I collected on my birthday trip to Vancouver. So much fun and inspiring stuff in these baggies! Makes me so happy that I get to turn one person's "junk" into lovely treasures for you :). There's upcycle, found and vintage goodies in there just waiting patiently for me.

I could just hang out here for hours (which I did last evening and already this morning) but we have to put playing in the studio on hold for a bit to do some nesting :P.

What are you doing today?

yes

It's our 2 year wedding anniversary at the end of the month:). A little about this little book...when Eddie proposed a few years back, he did it with a scrapbook that he had made (a project that I totally have to share still cause it was the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for me). At the end of the book, the journaling read, "will you marry me?" I bawled so hard that he teased me about not answering his question. So I made him a "YES" book and gave it to him during our wedding ceremony before we exchanged our vows.

Journaling reads: Yes to the respect for & loyalty to me…You know me very well but still accept me for who I am. Never judgmental. Took me a while to accept that this is actually real but I am glad I did & we are where we’re at.

Journaling reads: Yes to your patience & love. I say this because you have so much more than I do & I need you to remind me to be a little more of both. With you, I am a better person. Please continue to have patience with me as I work through my inner self. I promise I will try to be better today than yesterday.

Journaling reads: Yes to all the little things you do for me. Like drive me to scrapbook stores, drive me in the dark, take me to the US to go shopping even though it’s not fun for you, let me buy more scrapbook stuff (even though I have a ton already). Just to make me happy. For cleaning up after me…the kitchen & the mess I leave.

Journaling reads: Yes to raising Mylo together. To having him sleep with both of us in bed together with him. To being pack leaders together. To make decisions together on his care. To being together with him/for him until he takes his last breath.

Journaling reads: Yes to the ups & downs that we will face throughout our lifetime together. As long as we learn from them & grow stronger in our relationship & love for one another. Yes to never being too proud to admit that I’m wrong & to say that I’m sorry.

Journaling reads: Yes to having our families as one. To coming along to see your mom & spend time with her & yes to you coming to see my parents with me as well as my grandma. Yes to another excuse to spend time together. Yes to being a Johnson.

Journaling reads: Yes to having your baby. I know we talked about this lots lately. I know you can go either way but it makes me smile when I hear you talking plans for a baby in the future even though I’m negative about it at times. When we do make the decision, I’d be more than honoured to have your child.

Journaling reads: Yes to never breaking this pact we make to/with each other. Yes to spending the rest of my life with you. To wake up with you next to me every day until death do us apart or a nursing home does. I think so much of & am saddened by all the breakups & divorces because I don’t take marriage as a light matter. It’s important to me because you are. Yes to trusting you with my heart, with my life.

Seven mini album

this super easy and fun mini album is back in stock :). I've changed things up on the kit to encourage more hands-on creativity. The old kits were partially assembled and all you had to do was add your photos and journaling. The recent batch comes unassembled with detailed PDF file instructions on how to put it together. Paper, ribbon pieces are all cut to size:). Makes a great quick weekend project!

Now I'm onto either restocking the Places We Go mini album or working on some new July release items. I'm so excited about what's to come in July!! Especially when I'll get to make samples using photos of my new model :P.

tissue poms anyone?

source

You can make these with the instructions on the Martha Stewart website. I went out to one specialty packaging store and didn't find tissue colours that I really liked so I decided to order it from this Etsy shop instead. It's getting harder and harder to lug this large medicine ball belly with me to places so I try to keep trips really short. Lovin' Etsy shopping lately:). Got this colour combo for the baby nursery:

Don't know how everything's going to look but got some sort of idea. Still thinking about the wall art. Eddie finished painting the walls and crib/change table and I washed and folded the majority of her clothes. Will make a post next week on her completed room.

Thought I was being a little ambitious with my to-do list but it's actually coming along :).

My sister stayed over one night to help assemble some kits and helped me load orders into the car for the post office (umm belly's too large to carry things in the front). Thanks Jen! The mess we made last week got cleaned up Saturday night - just in time to have our moms over for Mother's Day lunch.

what a week

So much to be thankful for the last week...

It was my birthday on Sunday May 2 and Eddie made me breakfast. I even got a birthday balloon that Mylo presented to me :).

I got to go to my fave upcycle store in Vancouver to pick out stuff for my next kits (it was my birthday gift - Eddie waited patiently for me as always, birthday or not).

My sweet MIL made us dinner that night and we had cupcakes in place of a birthday cake :) - Eve got 2 cupcakes.

***********************

Our little time together continued on Monday when we visited Fort Langley. I love it out there - so wish we could afford living there. Until then visits will do.

We ate at the 50s diner and had yummy strawberry milkshakes.

Then visited this cute baby store while Mylo waited outside. Eddie tied him up to a tree to see for the first time. Bugger just flopped on the ground but I didn't take a photo.

I got to go to my fave antique store to pick out some more vintage books for future kits.

Had to stop by this farm that was located in the middle of a regular residential area to play with the goats.

We had a quick dinner that night and Eddie watched the Hockey game and put together some art journals while I went to my knitting class.

chopped it all off

Went and got the biggest haircut of my life. I've never had it this short before but have wanted this change for a long time. Thought this change was very fitting to my soon-to-be life changing experience :).

Can't believe the amount of shampoo I'm (not) using. It feels so good!

The side view. Got a little cowlick going on back there cause my hair is naturally slightly wavy. Really didn't know how it was going to react to this length but it's not doing too badly.
So glad I've knocked off some to-do things off my list because I'm feeling heavier, slower and way more tired. Poor Mylo's walks have gone from 1.5hrs to 1 hr to 45 mins to a mere 20/30 mins tops now as my pregnancy progressed. LOL! Oh well, he's getting old and lazy anyway - constantly fighting with me and wanting to go home. If he didn't want to go further, he'd put on the breaks literally and refuse to move. Does your dog do this?
Happy Wednesday!
